Published Date: 21-05-2026
Abstract:
The rapid expansion of artificial intelligence (AI) has driven scientific, technological, and productive transformations on a global scale, increasing the demand for qualified professionals to work in the development, implementation, and governance of these technologies. In this context, the training of specialized human resources becomes a central element for strengthening national AI capabilities. In Brazil, this agenda has gained institutional relevance through the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan (PBIA) 2024–2028, particularly through the axis focused on the dissemination, education, and training in AI, which foresees the expansion of courses, disciplines, and training scholarships at different educational levels. Within this context, the present report presents the National Mapping of Higher Education Programs in Artificial Intelligence (2025–2026), carried out at the request of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), with the participation of SETAD, CGEE, and the Artificial Intelligence Institute of LNCC. The study provides a national overview of higher education programs in AI, considering aspects such as territorial distribution, institutional profile, and educational characteristics. By systematizing information on higher education in AI in the country, the survey aims to support public policies for training and expanding education in artificial intelligence, contributing to the understanding of existing capabilities and the regional and structural gaps within the Brazilian AI ecosystem.
