GPAI Associated Innovation Workshop Rio de Janeiro 2026

The GPAI brings together democratic countries around a shared agenda for the responsible, inclusive, and innovative development of Artificial Intelligence. It is coordinated by internationally renowned institutions: France (Inria), Canada (Ceimia), and Japan (NICT). It provides a privileged space for dialogue, cooperation, and the development of solutions that directly impact public policies, the world of work, and society as a whole.

In 2024, the GPAI became an associated initiative of the OECD, further expanding its international reach. While the OECD had already been developing studies on related topics, its discussions were limited to member countries and often characterized by greater political bureaucracy. In this context, GPAI coordinators have maintained independent initiatives that preserve the agility, diversity of perspectives, and intellectual freedom that have always defined the partnership.

Among these initiatives, the Innovation Workshop (IW) stands out as an annual event held in May, bringing together around 60 international GPAI experts. The IW serves as a high level forum for the exchange of ideas, collaborative development, and the definition of strategic projects that will guide GPAI's actions in the following year. Previous editions took place in Quebec (2023), Paris (2024), and Tokyo (2025), consolidating the event as a global hub for AI innovation.

For 2026, Brazil has been selected as the candidate to host the Innovation Workshop in Rio de Janeiro.
