The institution aims to discuss the impact of public institutions adopting the business models of Big Techs (large technology companies operating globally) and how this affects Brazilian citizenship, making it dependent on the accumulation interests of major tech corporations.

Digital colonialism

According to experts, the concept of digital colonialism refers to the domination exerted by large technology companies, usually from developed countries, over the economies and societies of developing nations. This form of colonialism manifests through data control, digital infrastructures, labor platforms, and digital markets.

The lecture will also be streamed on the institution’s YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/live/MqxWY8KR33I). No certificates will be issued for YouTube viewers.
