IIA-LNCC Visits Piauí Innovation Hub

IIA-LNCC Visits Piauí Innovation Hub

From April 2 to 4, 2025, the Artificial Intelligence Institute of the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (IIA-LNCC), alongside MCTI and MGI, took part in a transformative technical mission at the Government of Piauí’s Innovation Hub. The goal? To establish strategic connections and support the ongoing digital revolution in the state!

A major highlight was the SoberanIA project — a bold initiative from Piauí to develop an artificial intelligence platform that is 100% in Portuguese and focused on real-world applications in health, education, security, and more. This initiative has the potential to place Brazil at the forefront of technological sovereignty in the AI field!

The IIA-LNCC immersed itself in Piauí’s innovative ecosystem, engaging with dedicated teams and a fertile environment of collaboration between universities, government, and businesses. The state stands out for integrating researchers and professors directly into government actions, making science a part of daily public administration.

Among the solutions already in place are:

  • Celular Seguro BR: a national-impact initiative to combat cellphone theft;

  • Piauí Digital Health: a drastic reduction in wait times for medical care — from 200 days to just 10 minutes through telemedicine!

Piauí’s plans also include the creation of an IMPA TECH hub in the state, further strengthening talent development in AI and applied mathematics.

The IIA-LNCC mission aimed to identify opportunities for technical and scientific cooperation, including:

  • Access to the Santos Dumont supercomputer to accelerate the development of SoberanIA;

  • Support for training in AI, data science, and HPC;

  • Participation in collaborative projects and joint funding calls;

  • Support for pilot initiatives in the State AI Olympiad.

This visit reaffirms IIA-LNCC’s commitment to building a national AI ecosystem that is inclusive, sovereign, and aligned with the public interest. We are ready to contribute with technical knowledge, cutting-edge infrastructure, and enthusiasm — strengthening the initiatives of the “AI Ecosystem for the Good of All” program and driving a technological transformation that puts science at the service of Brazilian society.
