The Workshop on Artificial Intelligence and Applications held by the National Scientific Computing Laboratory - LNCC and INRIA represented an event of great importance for the scientific community, bringing together Brazilian and French researchers to discuss and collaborate in different areas of artificial intelligence. The partnership between the institutions allows the exchange of knowledge and experiences between two countries with a tradition in research.
The meeting held at LNCC provided a conducive environment for sharing ideas, presenting innovative research and establishing partnerships between institutions and researchers. Furthermore, there was a wide presence of experts from both countries, who enriched the discussions and encouraged the development of creative and applied solutions to current challenges in AI at a very high level.
The success of the workshop can be measured by the quality of the presentations and debates and by the collaboration and networking that was established during the event. This exchange of knowledge and experience contributes significantly to the advancement of research in artificial intelligence and several other areas, in addition to strengthening ties between the scientific communities in Brazil and France.
With 173 registered participants, the workshop provided a valuable opportunity for researchers to stay up to date with the latest trends and developments in artificial intelligence and its applications. Furthermore, there was a large audience of 442 people watching the debates live, highlighting the reach and importance of disseminating the knowledge generated during the event.
The Director of INRIA-Brasil LNCC, Fréderic Valentin, highlights that “the topic of artificial intelligence and its interrelationships with computational modeling, data science and high-performance processing is undoubtedly one of the biggest challenges in scientific computing today (an area called "Scientific AI"). I consider the exchange of experiences in Scientific AI between different French and Brazilian research groups during the Inria-Brasil event to be fundamental. In fact, collaboration between Inria, LNCC and the main Brazilian Universities has strengthened, and important contacts have been established with representatives of the high technology industry in Brazil. The large presence of participants at the event indicates a promising future for the "Scientific AI" theme in Brazil, with the Inria-Brasil program being one of the pillars of this important scientific challenge.”
This interest and engagement are indicative of the positive impact of the workshop not only on the local scientific community, but also on a broader level, demonstrating the value of international collaboration and knowledge exchange to drive the advancement of science and technology.
In the words of Dexl Lab-LNCC Coordinator, Fábio Porto, “The INRIA-LNCC workshop on artificial intelligence and its applications showed the quality of research in the area of artificial intelligence carried out at INRIA, LNCC and national partners, both in academia and in industry. The event also included the participation of MCTI's digital transformation coordination, which supported LNCC in structuring the recently established AI Institute, presented during the event, and which participates in the Global Partnership for AI initiative, founded by Inria and ICEMIA (CA ); also highlighting discussions around the use of artificial intelligence techniques in applications in different areas, such as oil and gas, climate change and extreme events”.
The LNCC congratulates the Scientific Committee, the Organizing Committee, the Speakers and all the professionals involved in holding the event, showing appreciation for the joint effort to make the event a success.
“This recognition not only celebrates the work accomplished, but also motivates and inspires everyone to continue contributing to the advancement of science and international collaboration in the area of artificial intelligence and many others, as a source of learning, inspiration and connections for all participants , and that the fruits of this collaboration continue to be manifested in future research and projects”, highlights Fábio Borges, Director of LNCC.
