MCTI Organizes 7th Meeting of COSBAN

The Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation (MCTI) organized the 7th Meeting – Video Conference – China-Brazil High-level Coordination & Cooperation Committee (COSBAN) Industry and Information Technology Subcommittee, held online on April 24, 2024.

Bilateral relations in science, technology, innovation, and communications have evolved alongside diplomatic ties since their establishment in 1971. These relations intensified in 2004 with the creation of the China-Brazil High-level Coordination and Cooperation Committee (COSBAN), which serves as the primary institutional mechanism for coordinating bilateral relations, setting directions, and establishing new goals for the future. COSBAN operates through its subcommittees and working groups, such as the Science, Technology, and Innovation (ST&I) Subcommittee, under the responsibility of MCTI.

The Brazilian delegation included representatives from MCTI, MCOM, MDIC, MRE, GSI, and ANATEL. Additionally, at the invitation of the Secretariat for Science and Technology for Digital Transformation, the event was attended as observers by Fábio Porto, Coordinator of the DEXL LAB and the Artificial Intelligence Institute (IIA) at LNCC, and Anmily Paula Martins, representing Institutional Communication and IIA.

Everton Goursand de Freitas, Coordinator of Programs and Projects for Digital Transformation, highlighted several projects of interest for cooperation, particularly those related to Artificial Intelligence, such as the IIA and the LNCC's DOCKTHOR Portal.

With strong mutual interest in expanding cooperation, the participating organizations will propose the designation of thematic focal points for the development of future actions. The next meeting is scheduled for the second half of 2024.
