Survey on AI Courses – Undergraduate, Master’s, and Doctoral Programs

The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MCTI), in partnership with the Center for Management and Strategic Studies (CGEE) and the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (IIA-LNCC), is conducting a national survey on higher education in Artificial Intelligence (AI). The mapping will cover undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs, with the goal of monitoring the actions of the Brazilian Artificial Intelligence Plan (PBIA).

The PBIA foresees actions aimed at AI education and training, such as the creation of undergraduate programs in the field, the granting of scholarships for undergraduate and graduate studies, doctoral scholarships abroad, and professional qualification programs. In this context, the survey seeks to identify where and how AI is being taught and researched in academia, focusing on undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral programs. The participation of research centers and groups that are part of the AI research, technology, and innovation hub mapped by the Institute of Artificial Intelligence of the National Laboratory for Scientific Computing (IIA-LNCC/MCTI), and that offer AI-related courses, is essential to ensure that the resulting panorama accurately reflects the current landscape and diversity of initiatives across the country.

In addition to supporting the monitoring of the PBIA, this effort may provide insights to strengthen future national and international collaborations, expand scientific and technological production, bring academia closer to the productive sector and industry, and contribute to the training of qualified professionals in AI.
